Venting

I'm so sick of seeing people whining and crying about NYC not cleaning out their streets or their flights being delayed.. I wonder what's going to happen when a real crisis strikes. People are so used to the powers that be taking care of them that they can't do anything on their own anymore. Feed me, feed me, feed me. Grow up people and stop your dang whining..life could be alot worse. On a brighter note..I've gotten 3 seed catalogs already !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I'll be dreaming and drooling. Today is Ken's last day of work for 3 days !!! I can't wait until he gets home..We have to get the old treadmill out of the basement and a few more things moved around in anticipation of the new one arriving Wednesday.. I can't wait..Hubby and I both need to lose a few pounds and get in better shape. With gas prices headed up again I think I'll be riding my bike a lot more..or only making bi-weekly grocery runs. And probably combining Doctor visits with shopping visits. Can't wait until I can start hanging clothes out again and working in my grow beds.. Oh speaking of doctor's visits...Mom's appointment went really well yesterday. Doctor said her lungs sound a thousand times better but she has thrush from the triple whammy of antibiotics, prednisone and advair. So a mouth rinse for that and potassium to replace that taken out by the Lasix. She's still kind of weak but we'll be working on that now that she can breath again. So on to do something...

Addition to December at a glance

Almost forgot....the Wednesday before Christmas Nicole was coming home from work..stopped in front of the house to make a left turn into the driveway and some nincompoop passed her on the left. She was looking for oncoming traffic not behind and she started making the left and they collided. He said he saw her stopped but thought she was going to make a right..Only 2 problems...she had her left turn signal on, he passed on a solid yellow line and if she was turning right she would have been turning into a ditch. At least he admitted he was in the wrong. They ended up transporting her to the hospital..she was complaining of a head ache but once in the ambulance they discovered she'd whacked her knee pretty good...we had probably the shortest ER visit in history..she was out in less then an hour with a knee immobilizer on. She's doing good...she took the next day off work but has been back at it ever since.

December at a glance

Mom ended up in the hospital again in the middle of the month..she was coughing up blood..coumadin levels were to high. Came out of the hospital feeling worse then she went in. She was having trouble with her breathing. When we went back to her primary care physician she said Mom's lungs still sounded really "wet" so she gave her water pills..there was almost an immediate improvement in her breathing. She's still struggling but getting alittle better every day. We had a fantastic Christmas week end...Christmas Day Ken,Jen,Mom,Jim,Nicole and I opened presents and then we (minus Jim and Nicole) had Prime Rib and scalloped potatoes for lunch. In the mean time Shaun came in with the grandkids. I left and drove to Warsaw to get my sister and brought her back to the house. Sunday morning was church...Jim and Nicole came as well as Shaun, Jen, Taylor and the grandkids. Then back to the house for dinner...Ham, mashed potatoes / gravy, corn, green bean casserole, celery/creamcheese and olives, deviled eggs, a pickle and olive tray and biscuits. Then we opened presents. I keep telling everybody I need to find a hotel for sale in the area for holidays...LOL. Carie and my niece Tina's girls came over for a little while...it was great having every body here. Monday I took my sister home and Shaun and the kids left...it was so quiet. Apparently I was really tired because I fell asleep in the chair and Ken had to wake me up to tell me somebody was texting me...pretty bad coz my phone beeps SMS in morse code really load and the phone was inches away from my head..LOL.Today Mom has a doctor appointment and then this afternoon I've got to do laundry...Next week is Mom to the cardiologist on Monday, New treadmill delivery on Wednesday and I go to the cardiologist on Thursday...Never a dull minute around here but I'm telling you I'm enjoying the time I'm getting to spend with my Mommy. At 75 I'm not holding out any hope that she's going to be around forever..so we take it one day at a time and love on her every chance we get. And Ken is really glad he has someone to eat seafood with him...they've had crab legs and lobster tail so far...LOL. Well off to get ready to go...till later

There's no way I'll be able to catch up this time....

but I'll try. October saw Mom in the hospital again for a few days with pneumonia/broncitis and Atrial Fibrillations. Then the 29th of October I ended up in the hospital with chest pressure..it ended up being nothing. Or at least nothing they could pin down. The following Thursday I had an appointment with my new cardiologist..well my first cardiologist. He wanted me to have an angiogram because of the family history. I went for that the following Monday. It was an experience. Mom says she was awake through hers...I don't think I was. I remember bits and pieces of it..for example the doctor saying he was going to have to go in through the groin because he couldn't get the catheter in through my wrist. I think I woke up once and the nurse was pushing on my groin to get the bleeding to stop. oh and my nurse is dating Beck of Kimberly and Beck..not impressed. She was a bit of an old teen ager if you understand what I'm saying. So...angiogram showed 20% blockage in one artery. I'm happy about that. Monday night I started having pain in my upper lungs when I swallowed water or took deep breaths. Ended up going back to the Cath Lab Tuesday but they said my lungs sounded ok so take some tylenol. Wednesday or Thursday I called my cardioloigst office at 7:10..they're website said they opened at 7:00. The phone was answered by an answering service who said they'd have the doctor on call give me a ring back. Within 10 minutes he called. I explained to him what I was experiencing...pain in my lungs and pain in the upper arm that they couldn't cath. He told me to call the office at 8:00 when they started taking calls in the office and tell them to get me in. I hung up feeling good that they were taking it seriously. 10 minutes later the phone rang and it was the office asking me if I could be there at 8. Rush rush and we were there...on time. EKG,Echo cardiogram...back at 1:30 for a carotid artery scan. Echo showed a thin layer of fluid around the heart..but they don't know that it wasn't there already and superficial inflammation in a blood vessel in my arm. Got permission to take Ibuprofen. Mom was having a lot of A Fibs so her visiting nurse called her cardioloigst office and got her an appointment for the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. That day we found out that her cardiologist died. He was hit by an airport shuttle about a month ago. She'd been seeing his assistant so we could keep the appointment. He told her he wanted to do a cardio-something or other..where they shock the heart and try to get it into a normal rhythm. That was scheduled for the next day. I'm thinking ...oh great...the day before Thanksgiving. So we were at RGH at 6:15..at 6:30 they called her back and got her ready. I was with her until they got ready to do the procedure then I went out to the waiting room..with in a half an hour the doctor came out and told me they'd tried twice and had failed to get it into rhythm . Great..now what? I'll try to give her a medicine..do you feel confident enough to make sure her blood pressure doesn't fall to low? Other wise I'll put her in the hospital for 5 days..ummmm NO way ..she's been looking to forward to this Thanksgiving with Shaun being home. We had a good Thanksgiving..Ken,Me, Mom,Jen 2, Nicole ,James,Shaun,Jen1 and Ken's dad. We ate early coz Shaun and Jen had to go to her families for supper and Nicole and James went to his brothers for supper. Today Shaun went and got the grandkids..so I have a house full again..and I love it. Next week is Raymour and Flanigan supposedly coming to fix the couch and getting Mom's blood work done on Monday. I have an echo cardiogram and cardiologist appointment on Tuesday..Wednesday is pay the bills day...other then that I don't know what's going on.The week after is 2 doctor appointments for Mom. Cardiologist and Primary Care Physician. And Ken has an appointment that week also. Busy Busy Busy....till next time

Mommy Update

Mom's doing so much better...Thursday we went to the cardiologist and he said to expect good days and bad days because that's just how recovery from heart surgery goes. So now that we know its normal it won't be quite as scary. Friday we went and got the Auntie and went to Aladdins for lunch. We were down stairs out on the deck which this time of year is wrapped in heavy plastic with gas heaters going. We could watch people walking by on the canal and watch the ducks swimming. It was a good time of family time. Eating, laughing and spending time together. Hubby was off most of last week as he's having problems with his back again so he went with us. Saturday was Jen's soccer game at church and Mom went to that also for the championship game. Our team came in second but hey they can't win every year. And besides its character building. Sunday was her down day..she didn't even get dressed..just sat around on the couch and made an awesome batch of homemade chicken tortillini soup. Yesterday we did a Wegmans run. Today its raining and its going to be hard getting her out of the house but I'm going to try. Now to figure out what to do......

Peeking out the curtain

Man oh man...its been a very long time since I've written...Its 7:25 AM on September 27, 2010 and here's what's on my mind..I'm so thankful for the time I'm spending with my Mommy. She's 75 years old and I still have her here to look at and hug and kiss. On August 23rd she went to Rochester General Hospital for an angiogram..As my son and 2 daughters sat in the waiting room I got a call from the Doctor doing the angiogram..."we found blockages...I'm going to send them to...whoever it was...I don't think its anything serious that will have to be dealt with immediately..? 15 minutes later my phone rings again..."This is so and so..I'm a Nurse Practioner with Dr Split your chest open..we're admitting your Mom and doing a triple by pass tomorrow". I'm so glad the kids were there with me. So I called my aunt..and my sister...and my Mom's boyfriend to let them know what was going on. The surgeon came in that afternoon and said he was available to do the surgery that evening. Mom said no and I was kind of glad because I hadn't gotten to get my sister yet from Warsaw. Surgery was scheduled for 10:00 AM. He told us to be there by 8:30 if we wanted to see Mom before she went down. Later on that afternoon we had her side of the room packed..Me, my hubby, my 3 kids, my aunt, my cousin and her husband and my sister. Family...being there for each other because that's what families are supposed to do. We all went home..at 6:45 AM the 24th my phone rang..it was Mom..they were taking her down in half an hour. I was angry and scared. You've probably never seen so crazy as my sister, 3 kids and I running around that house trying to get dressed and out the door to make it to the hospital and up to the 4th floor in under a half hour. We didn't make it. Just thinking about that morning makes me nauseated which is pretty much how I felt after they told us she was out of surgery..nauseated to the point that shortly there after I lost the contents of my meager breakfast in the bathroom or the CTICU waiting room. Its been a very slow climb from that day...there was another stay in the hospital..originally pain in her left lung that turned into a slight kidney malfunction. She's here with me now..trying to get better..we have to remember she's 75 years old. Yes I'm thankful for this time I have with her. Time to love her and be what daughter's are supposed to be a caregiver...doing for her what she did for me the first 18 years of my life. So this week is 2 doctor's appointments..maybe getting her hair cut...and trying to get her to eat and drink and walk so she gets her strength back. Yep its work...but so was feeding me and changing my diapers and making sure I had all that I needed. That's what I'm trying to do for her..well minus changing the diapers I hope coz that's what families do. I love you Mommy

playing catch up ....AGAIN

On the mouth front.... bottom left tooth had an infection so went to the dentist and got an antibiotic for it..went back a couple of days later and he splinted 4 teeth together and tried to numb me and laser off some of the infected tissue...I say tried because it didn't numb and it hurt so he quit. A couple days later I was flossing and a tooth I'd had a root canal on over 25 years ago broke off at the gum..didn't hurt because the roots were already dead. So yesterday I had the roots pulled. It didn't hurt a whole lot but I couldn't get it to stop bleeding. Guess I should have stopped taking my daily low dose aspirin when I found out he was going to pull my tooth. Had the grandkids last week for VBS at church. We had a blast..VBS in the morning and dirt bike riding and swimming in the afternoon. They didn't give me a whole lot of problems about going to bed at night. Monday Ken, Jen 1 and I went golfing and got rained on..we sucked. I hit one ball and the club was wet..the club flew farther then the ball and ended up in the sand trap. Monday night Shaun got back from Missouri..oh man it seems good to have him home again. Tuesday He,Ken,Jen1 and I went golfing and AGAIN got rained on..but it was a much shorter rain and I sucked again. OH lets see....Nicole is working at Kay Jewelers in Webster and Jim has his name in lots of places but nothing yet.

Always playing catch up

It just seems so hard to keep up with this blog..not that there isn't stuff happening..maybe that's it..maybe there's so much happening that when I do get on the computer its spent catching up on e-mail and facebook. Got the window on the van replaced Tuesday. Had a great 4 days with my hubby and was sorry to see him go back to work on Wednesday. He was sorry to have to go back also. Saturday Jen #1 came over and she,Ken and I went to Kayla's birthday party in Geneva. Its a beautiful park and we had fun. Came home and my cousin, her husband and Auntie came over and we had a BBQ and then talked for awhile before heading over to make a run around the carnival grounds. Candy apple for cousin and fried dough for Ken and Auntie. Then we came back to the house and played Apples to Apples for a couple hours until it was time to watch the fireworks from the Webster Fireman's Carnival which we watched from our back yard. It was an awesome day but I'm beat. Tried to lay down and take a nap but got a phone call in the middle of it so I'm sure I'll sleep good tonight. Unfortunately a tooth that I've been having trouble with has decided its time to be taken care of so I'll probably have to make an appointment this week to get it pulled. AAARRRGGGHHHHHH so that's it for now

The Latest in My Life

Well its been kind of a sucky week health wise..Monday we went golfing and it was just so hot that it kind of knocked the stuffing out of me. Tuesday I went and spent time with the cousin and the auntie..Wednesday Nicole and I went to Nazareth College and gave blood..her for the first time. Came home and took a nap and then didn't feel real good after that. Ken came home and was hot and sweaty and tired from working in the extreme heat so after eating supper we just stayed home in the air conditioned house and watched church on the internet. You gotta love the internet that will allow you to go to church without leaving your house. Thursday and Friday are kind of a blur...though Friday night I did manage to get to Reformers Unanimous at church..first time I'd been in a while. Saturday Ken,Jim, Nicole, Jen #1, Taylor and myself went to a Rochester Red Wings games...we really thought the Wings were gonna pull off a win but they fell apart in the top of the 9th. Stuck around for the ESL sponsered fireworks and walked out to the parking lot to find out someone had smashed out the back window of the van. GGGRRREEEAAATTTT !! It was a breezy ride home..Because nothing was taken..ie 2 sets of golf clubs and 2 purses the cops wouldn't even come out and do a report. I told Taylor there's never a dull moment when you hang around us. Today we celebrated the 40th anniversary at our church so we had Sunday School at 9:20 instead of 9:45 and morning service at 10:45 instead of 11:00 and then a picnic on the grounds..came home and called the glass department of my insurance company and I've got an appointment scheduled for Tuesday morning to get the back window replaced. Now just sitting around trying to figure out what to do the rest of the day until Big Brother comes on.

Sunday Night Fireworks

After church last night I made up some Aldi's Giant Pizza Rolls and Jim,Nicole and I headed out to Irondequoit to watch the fireworks...we couldn't get anywhere near the place..talk about traffic. So we decided to see if we could get to the top of the St. Mary's parking ramp to watch the downtown ones. Pull into the entrance of the ramp and get met by a guy Jim used to work with..Nelson. Nelson is a cool guy. He's a security guard at St Marys. He was squatted down by the back car window talking when somebody let off a fire cracker. He flinched..laughed...looked at me and said,
" Did ya see me duck? " St Marys is in a very bad neighborhood..its where Main St, Brown St,Genesee St and West Ave meet. He was a smart man to flinch. So we drove up to the top of the parking ramp and sat there waiting for the fireworks to start. There were only 2 other cars up there. I stood outside the car watching the cars go by..it was a very warm night. Listening to the cars vibrating from the music in them being played to loud with the bass turned up to high. People walking by talking and laughing..remember..I'm above them..they don't know I'm there. An ambulance roaring by with its siren going..a while later a fire truck. And all around on every side little firework displays. As I stood there a man walked by on the other side of the street...a white man in a black neighborhood..carrying a bag and I watched him and wondered...who is this man? Where is he going? Is he a little scared? or is he comfortable in this neighborhood? It was a new experience for a country born and raised white girl. Then the downtown fireworks started and all it was was me hanging out with my son in law and daughter,in the semi darkness, on the top of St Marys parking garage, watching fireworks and celebrating the birthday of our country...on the way home I told them thank you ...thank you for letting me spend time with you...and what I didn't say was thank you for the experience.

Saturday

Both grandpuppies are here for the week end. Stella seems to think she's the queen of this castle and has been telling Jake (Shaun's dog) that he's nothing but a lowly servant. She's so tiny next to him and yet she yips and barks at him like she's a big dog. Right now all three of them are flaked out like they've been working all day or something. Haven't done much today. Did the grocery shopping, made supper and did the dishes. Finally the weather has decided it needs to be summer again. I'm loving it..

Finally got some work done...

Mother's Day we put both leaves in the table because Jen and her family were coming over for Mother's Day Lunch.. Finally today I got the table cleaned off and the 2 leaves out of it..Man does my dining room look huge..LOL. Also vacuumed the hall, dining rooom, living room and kitchen. Paid bills. Caught up on Facebook and with e-mail. Now going to eat lunch and then its probably off to pick up dish soap that I thought I had and found out last night when it was time to do dishes I didn't. I was going to go to Walmart and get pics of the grandkids printed out to put in their photo frames but I think I'll wait a while on that. Especially after seeing how much I used my charge card last month. The grandpuppy has been here for almost a week and we're having a good time together. We play and play and then she sleeps..Usually she walks up to me while I'm doing something on the computer and snuggles up against my arm and goes to sleep..its a little hard to type like that. We've been working on potty training..so far not to bad..no accidents in the house yesterday but I'm not sure if she's trained or I am..LOL

Last Day of June

Wow...its been 2 weeks since I've blogged...The first and most important news is that Jim and Nicole are back !!!!!!!!!!! Yeah!!!!!!!!!! Now the hunt is on for jobs and a place to live..Jobs first though. I've had the little dog here with me..What a trip !!!!!!!!!! She wears me out watching here..LOL. Saturday Jen had a Birthday Party for her son Taylor's 15th birthday...That was a fun filled afternoon. I hated to see the day end. So the birds have been eating my wheat...I went Monday and got Bird Netting to put over it..Tuesday I went out and let 4 birds out of it..did my laundry..got the pool emptied out and washed off and put away..oh yeah..had the grandkids last week end.. What a hoot they are. They had a blast at Jen's too. Lots to do today so no more time to write. Oh and Saturday was my baby boy's 31st birthday and he wasn't here to enjoy it...I love that boy

Busy Busy Week

What a busy week we had...this was Jen's last week home before she goes to Tennessee for a month with her grandparents. Monday Ken left for work, Jen 1 came over and we went to meet Jen 2's Mom, grandma and one of her aunts for lunch at Wendy's on Lake Ave...or as we call it Ghetto Wendys..all went well till we were leaving and this old man with a walker started screaming at the top of his lungs about how this black lady had run to get in front of him in line..doubting she had to run very fast coz I saw him walking. We went over to Aunties to introduce her to Jen 1 and then met Ken at Executive South...oh boy...lots of water and my balls with a desire to go swimming...luckily I had a lot of old balls so Jen and I used them..I think Ken actually ended up with more balls leaving then he did when we first got there. LOL. Tuesday my Mom and sister came to the city coz my sister had a doctor's appointment on Alexander Street and my Mom didn't know how to get there I took her. Left the doctor appointment and went over and picked up Aunt Edna and went to Greece to a Chinese Buffet, Ollies, and the dollar store. Wednesday Jen had a music lesson and then later on we went to Tractor Supply and I got some liquid fence to try and keep the deer and rabbits out of my garden. Thursday....hmmmm...I know we did something Thursday...just can't remember right now what it was.. Uh Duh !!!!!!! Thursday we went to Jen 1's and spent the afternoon. We went to this place called Tee Off. Its a driving range but they also have a grill and ice cream. Picked up Jen and her son Taylor and went to Tee Off and had lunch, then hit 2 bucket of balls, had ice cream and went back to Jen's to watch a little History Channel. Stopped at Little Caesars and picked up Pizza, Crazy Bread, Wings and Pop for supper.Friday we went on a quest to find material for culottes for me..Webster had some but not the amount I needed..supposedly Southtown had the right amount...drove over and surprise..they did but not in one hunk like I wanted. So I got half of what I needed and then stopped at Wegmans and picked up some lunch stuff and headed to the cousin's coz she and hubby had just gotten back from Myrtle Beach..Had a blast with them as usual and then came home. Today I went grocery shopping, got some newspapers and cardboard boxes in the recycling bin, vacummed, emptied garbage cans and did the dishes. Went out and layed in the hammock and started reading a magazine and it started raining...so in the house I came...I guess that's all for now...

Sunday

Yeah the whole hammock thing didn't work out...I think I grabbed a movie and went in and laid down on my bed. Saturday Jen went with her Mom for the day. Ken and I took to check out Executive South in Henrietta. We stopped on White Spruce Blvd so Ken could get his blood work done then stopped at Calkins Road Wegmans to pick up a sub pack that I like to get...last time I checked my Wegmans they were out of them. So got it and a coffee for Ken. Off to Executive South..hit a bucket of balls and checked to see if spectators were allowed and if they had any leagues on Monday nights. Went to Price Rite in Southtown Plaza and spent way to much money..over to Bj's to pick up a few more things and then stopped at Marketplace Wegmans to get rice cakes...home we came. Hung out here until Jen got home and then made a trip to our Wegmans for something for supper..sushi for Ken, pot stickers, potato skins, mini ravioli, pepperoni chunks and sodas for all of us. Watched a movie and worked on my Pogo badges. Then it was off to bed. Got up this morning and went to church..tonight is Kindergarten Graduation..Oh my word..those little ones are always soooooooo cute in their little caps and gowns.

Friday

Didn't go back to bed once I got up today...Got the laundry all washed and out on the line...side and back lawns all mowed and was done before lunch. Ate lunch and then ran off to BJ' to check on some prices and pick up some toilet paper and batteries. Counted my money in one of the aisles to make sure I had enough but somehow when I got to the check out I was $2.00 short. But they let me put the $2.00 on my debit card so I was good. Now I don't know what I want to do...start watching a movie or grab a magazine and head to the hammock. Guess I'll try the hammock first but that usually puts me to sleep so guess I better take my pillow and blankie too.

Thursday

Got up and made Ken's breakfast and packed his lunch as usual. Then headed off to join Jen at an awards ceremony at her son's school. It was fun..amongst the awards they had entertainment. Went back to Jen's to hang out while we waited for the driving range to open. I walked out the door and waited for her to shut the dogs into the kitchen. Looked downa and saw 2 little garter snakes slithering along the front of the house..Yuck Yuck Yuck...I hate snakes...even little garter snakes. Went to the driving range. Hit a bucket of balls and had lunch. I love spending time with her. Came back to her house where I saw a bigger garter snake curled up in the sun. I'll tell ya it didn't take me long to get in the house..LOL Spent some time talking with her Mom and Dad and then headed for home. As it was kinda late I stopped at Little Caesars and picked up a meal deal. Ken and Jen left for their Village Band Concert and I climbed into bed with my laptop and caught up on the Bachlorette. Today's plans are laundry and mowing the lawn.

Tuesday Still Still

Well I didn't read my e-mail, catch up on facebook or eat an early lunch. Ken called and wanted me to bring his tin ( something he keeps work papers in ) and eat lunch with him so off I went. Had a good time with him at lunch. Came home and finally caught up on my e-mail and face book with a little time out to fix my oven. The FedEx man finally got here with my package. So now I have meatloaf in the oven cooking. It smells soooooooooo good. Off to figure out what else to have with the meatloaf.

Tuesday Still

My Mom called this morning and said it was raining in Nunda..Hubby called and said it was sprinkling in Pittsford..It wasn't doing anything here so instead of reading e-mail and catching up on facebook I decided maybe I should get the front lawn mowed and start mulching my tomatos and broccoli. Walk outside and open the garage and I notice sprinkle marks on the van...which reminds me...the gutters need cleaning. So I drag out the ladder and clean the pine needles away from the down spouts so the water can drain down them instead of run over the sides. Got that done and it wasn't raining so on to mowing the front lawn. Emptied on catcher full of grass around the tomatos. Was about 7 swipes from having the front done when it started raining..but it wasn't raining hard so I finished up and have half the broccoli mulched. Now I don't know if I want an early lunch ( I didn't eat breakfast) or to read my e-mail and facebook..decisions decisions.

Tuesday

Yesterday while waiting for a package from UPS I tried to catch up on a new blog that Nicole had told me about about living life more simply. She had a link for another blog for a lady and her husband who live in a cabin on a float..a float is a bunch of logs bound together with a platform built on top of that and then a cabin built on top of the platform. Then its anchored to the shore with cables. As its anchored next to a very step cliff the only way to get to it is by boat. I sat here all afternoon reading their blog and then added it to my blogs to follow. This morning I woke up to a comment on my blog from the lady thanking me for following their blog. They live on the Powell River in Canada..How sweet of her to respond.. Today is the waiting game with FedEx so I can start using my oven to bake again. The bottom element burnt in half so I ordered one online..it also came from PA but it didn't leave till late afternoon Monday It arrived in West Henrietta this morning at 5 something and was on the truck for delivery at 7 something...those guys are quick !! Went and spent time with my kookie cousin last night. We always have a blast with them. They're headed off to Florida today in the car on a business trip. Was gonna do laundry but now its supposed to rain so Iguess I'll have to hold off until Friday..the next possibly nice day. Off to check face book and my e-mail seeings how I just got out of bed.

Monday

Monday was once again golf day...Jen came over a little early so she could use my high speed internet to order B-Day presents for her son. Picked Ken up at work and headed for Southern Meadows in Rush. 2 hours of walking and smacking that golf ball we headed to Henrietta for supper. Chili's again. I had the mini tacos. They were good but man oh man were they salty. Today was spent waiting for UPS to show up with the stuff I ordered for Taylor for his birthday. Any other day its a parade of UPS and FEDEX trucks up and down my street. Today it was dump trucks and nary a delivery truck in sight. Finally I heard the familiar sound of squeaky brakes and the package was here..YEAH !!!!!!!!!!!!! Not much else going on.

I'll try....

Wow..I haven't posted a real post since April..Life has be C-R-A-Z-Y !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My sister's boyfriend having surgery, Shaun coming home, Nicole leaving to move to Tennessee. It's been a time of emotions and busyiness. So Shaun was home from May 3rd until May 27th. We were so busy seeing people and golfing every Monday and just hanging out. Nicole left the 16th of May for Tennessee..I still miss her incredibly. She's coming home for a visit in September though !!! I can't wait !!!!! Memorial Week end...Saturday we planted tomatoes, broccoli, sweet corn in the big grow bed. I planted 2 pots..one with a beef steak tomato and the other with a cherry tomato..and a third pot with 3 pepper plants. Also in the bed that had lettuce and spinach in it I planted 6 pepper plants. Monday we walked down to the village and watched the Webster Memorial Day parade, then went to Genesse Country Museum and walked around for a while. Jen and her son Taylor met us there...At 3 Ken and our Jen played in the Webster Village Band concert at GCM..they do that every Memorial Day...then the 5 of us drove into Batavia and had supper at Applebee's. Tuesday morning Ken left to go to work and discovered somebody had gone through his car..they stole a bunch of change and his key ring which had house keys, work keys and my extra van key on it. So instead of going to work he changed all the locks in the house, replaced our outside lights with motion sensor lights and replaced the ceiling fan in the bed room. Wednesday I did laundry and mowed the lawn. Thursday I went and picked up Jen and we went to Tully's for lunch and ate ice cream and hung out. Friday I got my hair done and hung out with my Auntie for a little while. Friday night I got my grandkids and Saturday we went to a graduation party. When we got home there was a message on the answering machine from the Pittsford Petco saying somebody had found our keys..It was the lady next door. Her son had found them Friday afternoon when he was mowing lawn under a bush on the other side of their property from our house. Apparently whoever took them threw them under the bush on their way down the road. Unfortunately my van key was missing. So there...I've caught up for the time being...

A break....

I am unable to post right now..I can barely think about Nicole being gone with breaking out in tears....maybe in a couple of weeks. But I am having a blast spending time with Shaun, Jen and the kids.

Trying to catch up

Ok lets see if I can remember all I did since a week ago yesterday. NOpe..I can't. LOL. I have no idea what I did Thursday. Friday I tried to get the house picked up in anticipation of a week with the grandkids. Grandkids got here around 5:30 ish...just hung out the rest of the night. Saturday Ken, Ian and I went grocery shopping while Kayla and Colin hung out here with Aunt Jen. Sunday was church. They still have a hard time figuring out why we go to church on Sunday night but they did great. Came home and had nachos. Monday...was laundry day. Boy oh Boy did I have 5 lines full of laundry. The towels had to wait until some of the clothes were dry to be hung out but the wind was blowing alittle so the towels didn't wait that long to be put out. All the laundry got done on the same day. Tuesday we went to Springdale Farm. I wasn't overly impressed but I'm going to give it another try this summer. I have to remember that its still early in the year. Wednesday was the zoo with my Aunt, cousin, cousin's adult daughter, her friend, my teen and 9 count'em 9 kids 12 and under. But we had a blast. Now a BBQ is in the works for Saturday. Today is gonna be laundry again and maybe a quick trip to BJ's for me for our 3rd gallon of chocolate milk. We picked up our 2nd gallon of white milk yesterday. I gotta say these kids love milk but that's ok...its better then sugary drinks. Well guess better get my honey's breakfast going and his lunch packed. Unfortunately he doesn't get to have all this fun time with us...he has to work to put food on the table.

Spring has Sprung !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today I finally mowed the lawn...Oh man !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That felt so good..the smell of fresh cut grass. I caught the grass in the catcher and dumped it in the compost bin. Watered my 2 small grow beds..the onions are really looking good and there is definitely spinach coming up. Broccoli are looking good and another one popped through...that makes 22 out of 24. I got just a touch of sunburn today. It'll tan up fast though. I got done mowing the lawn and looked at it and realized how crooked the rows were..LOL That's because I was so busy looking at the roof while I mowed trying to figure out how many solar panels I thought I could fit on my roof. At least I don't have any shrubs to mow over while I'm dreaming. Put every thing away and came in and made sloppy joes and put lentils, rice and spices in the rice cooker. All I had to do was add water and warm the sloppy joe in the microwave. Good thing coz I was beat from following the lawn mower around the yard for 2 hours..and day dreaming of course...Ken and Jen did dishes and then it was off to church. Somebody forgot to put the garbage out when they left and Jade had a hay day emptying it out..I got to pick it up...now just relaxing and watching Law and Order. Soon to bed.

Tuesday

YEAH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My lawn mower started today...not that I did anything with it but it started. 21 broccoli plants are up. I can't wait till they get big enough to plant. I have 2 bags of topsoil in the garage that are all dried out..I may dump them out on a tarp and add some peat moss and then lightly water it and see if I can get it useable..then I could put it in the grow bed that doesn't have anything in it and plant some of them there...I think its 2X6 so I should be able to plant 12 plants there and then find room in the big grow bed for the other 9. My potato barrels aren't doing anything yet. I'm not feeling good about them but we'll see. Some of the onions are looking good and a garlic or 2 have sprouted. I may have some spinach coming up but it will be a little while before I'll be sure that what it is and not weeds. So thats my update for today.

Monday

Well lets see..I went and worked out this morning. Unfortunately I got to the gym and then realized I'd forgotten my MP3 player so no listening to TV's...its kind of boring to just walk and have nothing to keep me entertained so I upped the intensity a little and walked for 35 minutes. Did my strength training and then headed for home. Got the laundry all done and hung outside on the clotheslines and on one of my trips out I looked at the pots I have seeds planted in on the back porch and have 19 count em...19 little broccoli plants poking through. I planted 2 in each of 12 pots so I have the potential of 24 broccoli plants. In a couple of weeks I'll transplant them into larger pots. I'm excited..I only planted them Thursday so in 4 days they've started growing. Now all I have to do is keep them alive until its time to plant them outside.I feel positively giddy...hahahahahahahaha !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Met Mom at her surgeons for her last appointment. Everything looks good and is healing nicely. Took a drive out to the Chili library to pick up a book..yes I know I could have put a hold on it and had it delivered to Webster. It was such a nice day I wanted to drive..and think. It was a very relaxing time. Well I guess I better figure out what to make for supper and get the clothes off the line. What a wonderful day its been....so far.

Sunday Morning Thoughts

So much as been running through my mind lately. Like the state of the economy and the way the world is going in general. Will I be able to take care of my family if the unexpected happens? What if...I lose my pension...what if...hubby loses his job..what if..what if...what if...Its kinda scary. I am capable of growing vegetables..I'm working on my being able to start vegetables from seed and not having to go to the nursery and buy plants. I've started on my solar power project. I've bought one set of solar panels from Harbor Freight. Just have to get a couple of 6 volt golf cart batteries and then I can play with that more. I also need to get my 3 propane tanks filled. I bought a hose that will go from my propane tanks to my coleman stove so I can use them instead of those little 1 lb propane cyclinders. I'd like to get some barrels so I can catch the water that comes off the roof. I hate having to pay for water..when there's free water everytime it rains.I also hate paying $400 a year for garbage pick up but I don't see a way around that right now. I want to start downsizing the crap I have around here too..so much junk just sitting around. Now if I could only find the ambition..well off to start making breakfast for the fam and then off to church. Wonder waht the Lord has in store for me today.

Saturday

Yesterday I had to take my Auntie to the dentist. Then yesterday late afternoon Ken and I had to go to the bank and open the new checking and savings account. I think I got both pension accounts updated so my direct deposit will go to the new account but I won't know until the 1st of next month. Today I washed the sheets from my bed and hung them outside to dry. Watered the 2 grow beds and did the grocery shopping. We made homemade pizza and rice for supper.

Thursday Part 2

Got the potato barrels planted..I had to go to Wegmans and get a green pepper to go with my fajitas...GASP !!!!!!!!!!! $3.99/lb..what are they thinking? Tonight I planted seeds..12 pepper, 12 broccoli, 1 Big Boy Tomato, 1 Cherry Tomato, 2 zuchhini, 2 spinach. I've only got 1- 4X12 bed left...I hope I have room for everything. If not I'll be throwing a bed together quickly. I don't really have to worry about it until the end of May so hopefully something will give. Well actually I have another bed ready...I just have to add the top soil. I may have to for everything I have to plant. Plus I'd like to get a half dozen or so Roma tomato plants. I prefer the paste tomatoes because I don't have to cook them down as much.

Thursday

Well its been quite a week. Tuesday I sent over to my Aunt's and hung out until Ken got out of work. Then we went to supper at Sal's Birdland. Came home to let the dog out and there was a message on the answering machine from my bank. Apparently somebody got ahold of my bank account numbers and had been trying to spend my hard earned (hahahaa) money. They want me to open new accounts. I have to wait until Friday when Ken can go as he's on my accounts also. Went to Mona Lisa and picked up desserts and then went back to Auntie's to play a game of Apples to Apples. Wednesday I didn't do much until it was time to go to church. Last Friday there was a house explosion in Orleans County. It was next door to where we used to live in Waterport..the man injured in the explosion was the brother of some kids I used to play with growing up. Steve died yesterday. Its very sad that he's gone. The good news is Steve knew Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour and is in heaven right now. On the garden front..I'm supposed to be out planting my potatoes in barrels..I have styrofoan peanuts in the bottom of the barrels and a cardboard disc in each..now all I have to do is put in some top soil, place the seed potatoes in, and cover them with dirt. Then as they stems grow I'll cover them and this fall hopefully I'll empty them out and there will be potatoes. Well off I go to do more work..

Monday

What a week end...The weather has been beautiful..Saturday I got up and went out and ruffled up the soil in my 2 small grow beds. I don't know if I mentioned that last week I'd gotten a vegetable pack at BJ's..2 different kinds of seed potatoes, 65 each of white, yellow, and red onions, 2 garlic bulbs, lettuce, tomato and carrot seed. We went to Walmart and I got 2 cheap garbage cans. I'll be planting the potatoes in those. As the plants grow you add peatmoss and straw and supposedly the barrel fills with potatoes. We'll see. Then we went to Lowe's and I got a bale of peat moss and a bag of top soil. Then if was grocery shopping and home. I planted all the onions, garlic and carrot seeds in one bed..lettuce and spinach in the other. Then I covered both beds. One with my plastic tent and the other with a pane of glass and plastic. It serves 2 purposes. Keeps animals out and makes kind of a green house effect so the stuff is protected until the weather stays warm. I can't wait to see the first shoots poking through the soil. Yesterday was church and then we came home and had Baby Back Ribs, Macaroni salad, and Potato salad for lunch. Non traditional Easter Dinner I know but we'd just had ham a couple of weeks ago. We all took a nap and then back to church. After church we had Bagel Bites and Mozzerella sticks. Ken had to be to work 2 hours early this morning so I got up at 5:00 and made his coffee and lunch. Went back to bed but couldn't go back to sleep. So now its time to get myself out of bed and off to the gym..Maybe laundry today. Oh and did I tell ya that I discovered that its a lot easier to clean up the winter accumulation of doggy do of one dog then to pick up after 2? It only took me a couple of hours and 2 grocery bags to clean up the yard. Yeah !!!!!!!!!!!!

PS

And the uncle who was so deathly ill Sunday has been transferred to a nursing home in Medina...

Friday

Wow what a difference 4 days make. Lets see...Tuesday I baby sat..Wednesday I took little Miss Stella to meet my Mom and Aunt. Jim came to church with us. Thursday I had to go to Oakfield for a funeral. Got to meet my son's new girlfriend..or I should say get reaquainted with her. I knew her when she was much younger. OH..Thursday I also dropped my van off at Doyle Chevrolet..oh boy !!!!!!!! One new power steering unit, solenoid and gasket on my transmission and a transmission service and $1200 and I have it back. At least it should be good for a while...I hope. Last night as we were getting ready to go to bed Ken coughed and yelled out in pain. The pain was enough to bring tears to his eyes. Got into bed and this morning when he got up he could hardly move, couldn't take deep breaths and when he went to the bathroom he had blood in his stool. We were pretty sure the 2 weren't related but we wanted to get it checked out and make sure. So after 3 1/2 hours in the ER, and blood tests and an x-ray later he was pronounced ok...just a pulled muscle and the other had nothing to do with it. I think he just wanted the day off because Jen and I were going to be home..LOL. Not really...he isn't like that. We came home and then went to Red Robin for lunch. I had the battered cod and fries..it was so good. Came home and I did what I was supposed to do this morning. Do the yearly mass clean up of dog poop. I learned 2 things..a large rubber band holds the tops of the plastic garbage bags so they don't fall into the garbage can and I don't have to fight with them and 2...1 large dog is a lot easier to clean up after then 2 large dogs. About 2 hours and 2 bags..yes !!!!!!!!!!Oh OH...just remembered I have to pay bills..bye

Monday

My Mom called yesterday morning and said they were transferring my Uncle to a "Comfort Room" better known as hospice. He has a DNR so there isn't any sense of keeping in ICU. Jim and Nicole came to church yesterday morning and then spent the day with us and went back to church last night. We watched this show through Netflix livestream I think its called entitled 30 Days...about people who do things out of their comfort zone for 30 days..its a pretty good show. We didn't watch all of season one but I want to watch the rest of it. Last night I went up to Brockport Hospital to chase my Auntie and Mommy back to Henrietta for some sleep..well my original goal was to drive them back to Henrietta but hard headed Auntie wouldn't let me..and when I say chase...I mean chase...you little speed demon you...LOL My aunt reads my blog so I gotta raze her a little..I love ya Auntie. I talked to my cousin who is stuck in California with her hubby waiting for a load that will send them towards home..we talked from Brockport hospital to Henrietta to Webster..yes yes I admit it...I talk on my cell phone while driving. Got home at 10 to find out that my wonderful hubby had made me a quasidilla....or however you spell that thing that is 2 torillas with cheese between them and then heated in the skillet..LOL. This morning I got up and went to the gym. Did my hour on the treadmill and then my strength training..then came home and ate my carrots and celery dipped in blue cheese dressing...it so makes it worth working out..ohhhhh and for breakfast before work out I had an eggbeater omelet with canadian bacon and cheese in it..yes I know the cheese isn't that good for me but I needed the protein..and the cheese keeps the canadian bacon from falling out. So now I'm catching up on my blog...and gonna check out my 46 e-mails...probably half of which are spam. Later

Sunday Morning Kind Of..

Its 2:47 AM..my mom just called. My Uncle's family just got a call to come up to the hospital because my Uncle isn't going to make it. Not exactly the call you want to get at this time of the morning. Yesterday we got to watch little Stella for a few hours. I sat here on the computer while she slept on my lap. She's so cute. Then we went to Jim's brother's house for a going away party. Afterwards Ken and I went grocery shopping and then home to chill for the rest of the day. I was ready for bed at 6:00 but stayed up until 11:00..Why? I don't know. Now I'm up again..writing about this..sigh.. looks like this week isn't gonna be so great either.

Friday..

Oh my goodness...I missed a day but that's because yesterday was so busy. The lady I babysat for Wednesday wanted to know if I'd watch Charity (3) and Lydia (1) while she went to physical therapy...No problem...be there by 9:00..hahahha...as usual. While I was at the gym I realized that my phone wasn't working...said...insert sim card...uh duh...sim card is in...so now instead of going from the gym to babysitting I have to run home to pick up a spare phone I have..figuring I dropped my phone 1 to many times. Luckily I live on one side of Webster she only lives across town so I wasn't to late...try putting my sim card in the other phone...insert sim card...oh oh...this isn't good..After babysitting I'm supposed to go over to my Aunt's and we're gonna do some running...Now I gotta make a trip to AT&T coz there ain't no way I'm gonna be without a cell phone...I'm not sure how I lived without one before but I sure can't now.. Take my left arm...please but leave me my cell phone. Run into AT&T...and the guy activates a new sim card for me...phone works...unfortunately I lost all my saved numbers....arghhhhhhhhhhhhh. Got to my Aunts and she gave me some of the numbers I lost plus 2 I didn't have before. Do our running around, play a game of Skip-Bo and its off to make supper so I can get to church. It was a very busy day...didn't even fire up the laptop until after 4 PM. So update on my Aunt Marge...they sent her home...said the operation was to risky...so she has to stay calm, keep her blood pressure low and learn how to manage her pain...I don't know about you all but, " Hello you have an aneurysm that could burst at any time" just doesn't seem to go with stay calm and keep your blood pressure low. Then last night I found out that my Uncle Clarence ( Mom's brother ) is in the hospital..all I know so far is that he's on some kind of breathing device and they moved him to ICU this morning..Its not looking good. On another note..its been a pretty easy day for me..went to the gym..came home and finished the laundry I've been working on for the last 3 days, emptied the compost pail and covered one of my grow beds with plastic..gotta get that soil warmed up I've got a hankering to plant..true it will only be lettuce and spinach but I'm feeling the urge.

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

Wednesday

Its been a busy day....off to the gym at 7:30..I told a lady at church I'd watch her 3 year old while she took her baby to get some blood work done. Be there by 9:15..no problem...I'm always done by 9:00. Well today another lady from church shows up at the gym and wants to talk...then Nicole calls and wants to talk. Not that I'm complaining that Nicole called...just saying...that's the way it always goes. Finally get to her house around 9:30...She's back by 10:55...run home and start vaccuming. Nicole calls ..what am I doing? Vaccuming so Stella doesn't get lost in the dog hair from Jade. Play with the pup....check some e-mail...Nicole and I go to Red Robin for lunch and then MickyD's drive thru for a McFlurry...Back home. Nicole leaves at 2 so she can get ready for work and here I sit. ..with ham in the oven, rice in the rice cooker and sweet sweet little Stella asleep in her bed next to me on the couch. It don't get much better then this...LOL

Tuesday

Well its been a busy morning...got up and made Ken's coffee and did my Bible devotions. Made Ken's breakfast and then headed off to the gym. Did my hour on the treadmill and my strength training and then headed home. I still had 6.77 pounds of 90% lean ground beef. So I made 31- 1/4 pounders and have them in the freezer freezing so I can repack them. Just got a message from my 3nd cousin on facebook that my Dad's sister Marge was taken to Erie County Medical Center with an aortic aneurysm and aortic tear. I don't have any more information then that right now. Well my little grandpuppy isn't coming to spend the night tonight...I'm sad..but she should be here tomorrow night. James called and asked me to look up some places for him that would help him unload the truck. Mom called and I talked to her for a while. Nicole has called me 4 times...LOL. I think I need a nap..right after I eat lunch.

Monday, March 22, 2010

Monday

Went and did my usual work out this morning..then sailed into the gas station on fumes to fill my tank. Came home and Nicole and Stella came in shortly after. Had to go to a couple of stores and then back home to make 5 pounds of 90% lean ground beef into meatballs..Then we watched Tyler Perry's " I can do bad all by myself". Did some burgers on the grill, Nicole and I did dishes and now its off to the Missions Conference at Church..Yahoo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to get home though coz I'm sleepy.

Stella Thinks She's 10 foot tall

I had to take my babies home today

and its very quiet here...But I did get to spend the day with Nicole. Jim left this morning to move their stuff to Tennessee..He'll fly home Thursday and stay until the 3rd of April when he'll drive back to Tennessee and try to find a job. Nicole is going to try and stay in the apartment until April 3rd and then she'll probably move in with us until the middle of May. She has the cutest little pup. I'll upload a pic at the end. The trans axle in my van has been clunking when it shifts. I've been trying to figure out when I'll have time to get it in and get it fixed. Today Nicole and I went to Wegmans and as we pulled in the parking lot the van started making a weird noise which I quickly figured out was the power steering. Got home checked the fluid level and there wasn't any..off to Auto Zone I went to buy some. I bought the kind that is supposed to seal leaks. Hoping that takes care of that problem. I really can't afford a car payment right now.

Post Zoo Update

We spent better then 2 hours at the zoo...oh my aching feet..Supper tonight was Dinosaur Chicken Nuggets, French Fries and Pizza..then it was bathes for the kiddos and we watched 2 movies via Netflix live stream. They were in bed before 8:30. I spent an hour or so uploading pics onto facebook. Can't download the updated photo uploader for some reason so uploaded 51 pics ..5 at a time. The crew will be expecting pancakes in the morning before church so now off to bed with me..Ken went over an hour ago...he's snoring..I can hear him from here...LOL. And I talked him into going to McDonald's and getting me an M & M McFlurry...he's a good guy...LOL

Week end so far

Took the kiddos to Bounce It Out Friday...2 solid hours of running, jumping, bouncing and sliding..Ken got out of work early so he met us at Wendy's on Monroe Ave for lunch. Came home and all 3 kids took a nap. I had to wake Ian up at 4:30 for supper. Last night was Reformer's Unanimous. Pastor preached a great message on being able to be used of God no matter what we've done. It was great. Ken, Ian and I went and did the grocery shopping this morning while Kayla and Colin hung out at home with Aunt Jen. We were going to go to the zoo today but its a little cool out. OH OH...the boys are going in to ask Poppy (that's what they call Ken ) if we can go to the zoo...so cool or not we may be going...He said we can...so I guess its off to the zoo.

Yahooo

Grand babies are here though they aren't much of babies anymore..Kayla is 7 and the boys are 4..I love it when they're here. We were sitting on the couch..Colin, me (with the laptop on my lap) Ian and Kayla looking at pictures I took in Colorado. I kept leaning over and kissing the boys on top of the head..Colin looks at me and says," Nana...why do you always kiss us? " I said, "Because I love you." He said," Oh...ok"...end of conversation. LOL Its going to be a very busy 2 1/2 days. I should sleep very well by Sunday night. But I wouldn't change it for the world..

Back by popular demand..ME

Sorry I haven't blogged much lately but Life has gotten in the way. My heart is heavy that my baby girl is moving away..Ken, Jen and I went to Colorado March 4th though the 8th. Had a good time with Shaun and Heather. It probably is the last time we'll go to Colorado. Shaun goes to Missouri the end of May until the middle of August for MP training..then he's going to be stationed at Fort Drum in Watertown. At least maybe I'll get to see him once in a while. On the day we left we had to say good bye to sweet Heather...Shaun's now ex-wife. We flew out at 1:10 for Rochester, she flew out of the same airport at 1:43 bound for 2 years in Germany. We got to have lunch together before we left. It was very sad. I've been going to the gym but I'm not seeing much happening. Hopefully I'm building muscle coz I'm sure not losing any weight. Been spending time with my Auntie and cousin. My cousin and her husband are over the road truckers..so they're in and out. Its really been great connecting with family again..we've spent to many years apart. Mom went to the back doctor today and found out she has arthritis in her back. Next week she goes for a shot and then some physical therapy. My sister's boyfriend is having hernia surgery May 3rd. Its very risky surgery because he's over weight and the hernia is rather large. So we have that to look forward to. Ok..gotta run...grandkids are on their way. I'm thinking tomorrow is going to be Bounce It Out and Saturday may be the zoo..Haven't really decided yet..the fun part about being Nana is I can spoil them and then send them home...LOL

Long time

didn't realize it had been that long since I've posted..things have really been busy here...running my Mom and Sister to lots of doctors appointments and my own. Taking the Auntie to the dentist and baby sitting. Last Wednesday I went and picked up my Mom and brought her to the house. Thursday morning she had to be at the lab early for blood tests. Then we did breakfast, went and picked up my aunt and took them out to see their brother, stopped and got lunch on the way home, played alittle bit of cards then came home and had supper and watched Survivor. Friday was Mom's surgery. We were at Unity at 6:30 and out of there around 10. Mom is staying the whole week end with us. Sammie dropped the grandkids off Friday afternoon so I had Mom AND the grandkids. We had a blast. Taught Kayla how to play Skip-Bo. She's got the game down but she still needs to figure out the strategy. They're all growing like weeds. Today is Church, take the kids home, go pick up my sister as her and my Mom both have doctors appointments tomorrow, church and then come home and collapse. Its been a very busy week. I have this next week of (so far) not much going on and then the 4th of March we fly to Colorado for the a long week end to see Shaun..we'll be back on the 8th...late. It probably will be our last trip to Colorado as Shaun goes to MP school in May and he's not sure where he'll be stationed after that. He's thinking either Fort Drum in Watertown or Fort Lee in Virginia. Either way it puts him closer to home. So I guess that's it for now..I need to start breakfast..I have a crew to feed here.

Friday Morning Ramblings

Well...I've been up since 4:00 AM. Just couldn't sleep anymore. Yesterday I worked out as usual and then got home to remember that I had to handle the unpleasant task of going to town hall and telling them I couldn't renew Amee's license because she died last September. I don't know why its still so hard to think about but I cried all the way home. I miss her. So I just got home again and got a phone call from a lady at church that she didn't know how to get the DVD to work at the house of the lady I baby sit for sometimes. I wasn't sure either because they got a new TV but I know how our's works so I went over and figured it out for her. Then I sat and talked with her for a while. Sometimes we just need somebody to sit and listen while we pour our hearts out...I was the listener. Made supper which consisted of boneless skinless chicken breast in Garlic and Herb marinade, a broccoli, cauliflower, carrot veggie mix and white cheddar shells. Also tossed salads for the Hubbs and I as I had a partial bag of salad mix that needed to be used up. They had a Survivor preview show on and you know I had to watch that. Survivor starts next Thursday !!!!!!!! I can't wait. Sat in bed with the heating pad on my bruised leg ( still is tender ) and finished up my Ben and Jerry's. Ah...the life of luxury. Today's plans are work out and then heading over to my cousin's house to spend the day with her and my Auntie. Tomorrow's plans I believe involve grocery shopping and a basketball game at Nazareth College. Hubbs works there and live basketball is about the only basketball I can handle. Football is my game...which reminds me....SUPERBOWL !!!!!!!!!!! Come on Indy. I really only like them because the QB is Peyton Manning who was the QB for the University of Tennessee..which is where my Mother in law works. She's a recovery room nurse at UT Hospital. So it looks like an action packed week end for me.

Catching up

Well lets see...I ended up on Thursday last week...Friday I went and worked out,had an appointment early afternoon and then went and picked my Auntie up and we went to Buffalo Wild Wings. First time she'd been there and 2nd time in a week I'd been there. It was good.Saturday the Hubbs and I went grocery shopping and then I went to the gym with the lady I baby sit for occasionally. So that was 4 times I worked out last week. Worked out Monday and then went over to my cousin's and hung out for a couple of hours and played Skip-Bo with her and my Aunt. Monday night I had to do bills..Don't know why but this month was really hard mentally to pay bills. Part of it had to do with the switching insurance over thing. Tuesday I worked out and then....hmmmm...what did I do the rest of the day? Not sure...till my Mom called and needed me to come over to Clinton Crossings and have me jump her car. Then the Hubbs called and said I didn't have to make supper..he'd take us out. I love when that happens. So we went to Camille's in Pittsford. I had "The Michaelango" hot wrap and that came with a mixed green salad with Raspberry Vinagrette dressing and a bowl of Red Potato Cheddar soup. On the way home we stopped at Mona Lisa to get dessert but they didn't have my Festa cake so we went to Wegmans' and picked up Ben and Jerry's. Light Phish Food for me..Yum. Today I had an 8 AM Doctor's appointment. Glad that's done for a year..LOL. Then went to the gym and did my work out. That makes 3 days this week. Someone (Nicole) said I should take a day off but I really feel the need to go as often as I can and get myself in shape. I walk on the treadmill for an hour and work out on 9 strength training machines but I'm not killing myself. I'm going to stay on the same weight for 2 weeks and then the week after next I'll go alittle heavier. I'm so fat and out of shape I can't move sometimes..now I'm still fat and can't move sometimes but its because I'm working out my muscles. Oh and at 2:30 I have an appointment for the dog to get her shots so we can board her while we're in Colorado.
I'm getting kinda of jealous of the delivery trucks stopping at the neighbor's house all the time again. It just doesn't seem right that 3 or 4 trucks stop over there everyday..Maybe I'll have to order something so I can get a delivery too...Though at Christmas time when I did I was never home when they delivered..LOL.
I've got to figure out what to do this year to keep the deer out of my gardens. Last year was the first year they found them. Must be the neighbor didn't keep his bird feeder filled for them. I really need to get busy and figure out what I'm going to plant. And as I talk about planting veggies I look outside and see its snowing. I don't care..I love snow. I think I'm rambling so I better go now..toodles

thursday 1/28/2010

Got up at 6:30 and did the make hubby coffee, pack lunch, make breakfast thing. Did my devotions..talked to Nicole on her way to school and then got dressed and headed to the gym. I decided to join so I did that. 61.95 this month and then 21.95 a month the rest of the year. So I walked 3.3 miles and burned 335 calories. Then did some weight training. Tired but feeling pretty accomplished. I actually waited till noon to eat lunch instead of chowing down the minute I walked in the house. I just heard today that I was supposed to get 10-15 inches of snow today...yeah I'm still waiting. So I guess that's it for now...me

Another Week....

Monday morning I went for my first work out session..oh boy. Been a long time since I've worked out and I'm feeling it. Monday night my Mom and Sister came over again to spend the night coz my sister had an appointment for an MRI. They, Jen and I played Mexican Train Dominoes. That was so much fun. Ken came out laughing and said," You really better check facebook" It all started with my Aunt saying she couldn't wait to see me the next day and went down hill from there. But it was fun playing dominoes AND facebooking at the same time. Tuesday we went to Strong for the MRI..who would have thought an MRI would take 2 hours?Do they usually take 2 hours? Then we went over to my cousins and went out to eat lunch..THat was fun..and back to her house to play dominoes. We came back to my house and Mom and Judy went home. I was beat so I made supper, did dishes and got my PJ's on. My legs and back were aching from exercising so I did the Old Lady Ben Gay rub thing. This morning I had to go to the dentist. First of all I hate going to the dentist. I have to go 4 times a year and with the dental insurance I had we used to have to pay the dentist and then the insurance company would cut me a check. So I told them I had new dental insurance..they checked it out and it cost me zip, nothing , nada. I love MetLife. Hubby was happy too when I told him no more having to make sure we have money in the account to pay the dentist. So I guess that's it for now...chow

Health Insurance Frustrations

Can I tell ya how much I hate changing health insurance? We switched over to Ken's insurance because its better then what I had. It costs twice as much but its much better insurance..So Tuesday night I found out we have a separate RX card...did I tell ya that? Well we do...so I go to the doctors office and they copy the information but tell me to call Medco and see if they accepted the prescriptions he faxed in. Well I went on the Medco site while I was at the library and you have the ability to change your insurance info...great !!!! Only my purse is in the van and the card is in my wallet, which is in my purse, which is in the van. Ok...I'll do it when I get home. Get home....go to the Medco website...put in the new info...hit save changes...." Please fix the areas in red"..my birthdate..nothing wrong with that...my insurance number...nothing wrong with that..argggggggghhhhhhhhhhh call the 1-800 number...seems I can't change the insurance info because GM hasn't let them know yet that I no longer have insurance through them...I talked to 2 people and "supposedly" its fixed...we'll see. Things seldom go easy for me. This waiting for my Mom and sister to show up is killing me....I'm so impatient...(insert Final Jeopardy song here) LOL. I wanna spend time with them before my in laws get here which is gonna be around 4:30. My father in law called last night after we got home from church and said they made it as far as Chambersburg,PA. I guess Ken's grandma isn't doing to good mentally. From what I gathered last night you tell her something and 5 minutes later she forgets...She's 91. So off to find someting to do to take my mind off the fact Mom didn't leave at 6 AM so she'd be here already...

Catching up

So lets see....Saturday Ken and Jen went and got 5 movies at the library...Diary of Anne Frank, Pride and Prejudice, Gettysburg, The original Stepford Wives (sniff sniff), and Signs. Saturday we watched...Diary of Anne Frank, Stepford Wives and Signs...well they watched Signs...I only looked up at the spooky parts..of course. Sunday was Fellowship Sunday. Sunday School started at 9:20 and Morning service started at 10:45..instead of 9:45 and 11:00..then we had a meal at church...turkey,stuffing,green bean casserole and gravy...plus all kinds of dessert and then no evening service..So Sunday afternoon/early evening we watched Gettysburg.. 4 hours 14 minutes worth. That was one long movie..then we made homemade pizza. Monday Ken and Jen had off for Martin Luther King Day..we took back cans and bottles..went to Skips and got pork steaks for $1.49 a pound and italian sausage for $1.99 a pound and then went to Triano's and got a whole NY Strip Loin for $2.49 a pound and baby back ribs for $2.99 a pound. Then we went to Monte Alban for lunch and stopped at Mona Lisa and picked up desserts to eat at home. Ken got a gelato and because I was afraid it was going to melt before we got home I was spooning it into his mouth while he drove. LOL..we got home...he sliced up the loin into steaks and cut the ribs up into 3 or 4 rib sections and we put those in the freezer to freeze so we could pack them separately. Then we watched Pride and Prejudice. Yesterday I went to the doctor. It was my 3 month check up but I'd been having pressure in my chest so he did an EKG, had me do a blood test and sent me for an Echo/Stress test. EKG looked ok...blood test came back normal and Echo/Stress showed nothing so I guess I'll live a little longer. Today I called and made my appointment for my yearly mammogram which is long overdue, cancelled my health insurance (Ken has better insurance ) packed the ribs in a double freezer ziplock bag and individually sealed the NY Strips in vaccum bags, then I came to the library for some quiet time. So that's what I've been up to. Tomorrow my mom and sister are coming..Mom has a doctor appointment tomorrow and my sister has one Friday. Also my inlaws will be in town tomorrow. They're taking us out for supper for out anniversary which is Friday...10 YEARS !!!!!! Can ya believe it...so I guess thats all I have to say for now...later

Update on canning

I ended up getting 15 quarts of tomato sauce...4 didn't seal so I put 3 back in the canner and used the 4th to make a batch of homemade chili. Now if I could get the darn pinto beans to soften so I could add them to the chili. Went grocery shopping and spent almost all the grocery money...but I got some good deals with coupons at BJ's....we now have 12 boxes of Kleenex and I only payed for 6. Other then that..not much going on

Catching up

Not that much really goes on in the winter usually so its hard to post faithfully. Lets see...leg is looking better but is still really sore. Went with Nicole yesterday to get her books for this semester. We walked around campus for awhile which is probably why my leg hurts. Last time I made spaghetti sauce I realized I had only one more quart of tomato sauce downstairs...oh oh. But in the freezer I had 28 quarts of tomato juice in the freezer so I'm boiling that down and canning it. I have 7 quarts done..They look nice sitting on the counter..and another 10 quarts boiling down on the stove which should give me another 5-7 quarts of sauce. Hopefully that will last until my tomatoes are ready this summer.Next week is gonna be super busy..I have a doctor's appointment Tuesday..Mom has one Thursday and Judy has one Friday..Plus my inlaws are going to be in town. Is next week over yet? No I guess not..Other then that not much new going on. I went Monday and spent some time with my Aunt Edna, her granddaughter Val and her great grandson Dylyn. We had a blast playing Skip-Bo. So I guess that's it for now...Gotta make lunch and stir my tomato sauce.

Snowing and other stuff

So the Lemon Chicken wasn't all that great. So that recipe is gone. Just kinda hung out at the house New Years Day and watched movies. Saturday Shaun, Nicole and Jim came over...and then Sammy brought the kids over so they could see Shaun before he left. Fortunately I'd bought a Stouffers Lasagna. I fed 7 adults and 4 kids with it. Everybody left and I decided maybe I should get the leg looked at so we dropped Jen off at a friend's house and we took off for Highland Hospital. We sat in the waiting room 4 hours. Finally got in to be seen. Had several x-rays taken..hip, knee and toe to make sure nothing was broken or fractured..It isn't..Just a deep tissue contusion aka bruise. So Hubby and I got to spend 6 hours of quality time together at Highland Hospital. Shaun's flights went without a hitch..He texted me when he got to Denver. Ken,Jen and I are flying to Colorado Springs in March to see him. I can't wait. It will probably be our last trip to Colorado as he goes to school in Missouri from the end of May until the middle of August and then probably will be stationed in Virginia. Today is a major snow storm...sorry but I have to say....I LOVE IT !!!!! We went to church this morning no problem. Thought we might have trouble getting out of the driveway but we didn't..despite the drifts. Ken made mystery skillet for lunch. He does that every once in a while. It was rice, mushrooms and hamburger...then he added other things and I'm supposed to guess what it is...I don't even bother...as long as it tastes good...and it always does I just eat.

Happy New Year

Well here it is...my first post of 2010. Hope you all had a happy and uneventful new years celebration. We spent ours as church. First we did "Buy a song" praises..tell everybody what you're thankful for from the year and get to pick a song out of the hymnal. Mine of course was the fact that Shaun ( my 30 year old son ) came home form Iraq safely and that he was able to come to NY for Christmas. I think its only the 2nd time he's been here for Christmas in the 7 years he's been in the army. Then one of the junior pastors gave a devotional on what we strive for in 2010. Eventually he'd like to start a church in the city but he's still in training right now. Then there were snacks and either games or a movie. Hubby and I chose to watch the movie..It was good. It was called Saving God..about a preacher who was trying to get his Daddy's old church going again after having been in jail for losing his temper and killing his friend. The church was in a drug infested neighborhood. Excellent excellent movie. Then we watched the ball drop and came home. Fortunate for us we only live 5 miles from church. We only passed 3 or 4 cars but I was still very nervous until we got home. Woke up this morning and Hubs and I laid in bed watching the Today Show. Some chef was on there making Lemon Chicken...I said, " Hm..that sounds good"...so I made some for lunch. Waiting for the rice to get done so we can eat. Last night...or this morning...when we got home from church I opened up my pension direct deposit statement..ummmmm where's my money. I hope this new pension company hurrys up and sends me the rest of my money coz $90 isn't gonna pay for much..its only a tenth of my mortgage payment. The leg is still sore..and the black and blue has extended..It looks like I got run over by a mack truck..but the initial spot is starting to turn yellow so that's a good sign. Well...off to see if the rice is done yet.
