30 minutes later

Forgot to tell you something funny that happened yesterday

So yesterday...just as I 'm finishing my walking my Mom calls. We're talking and she says, " Well I guess I better go". We hang up...10 minutes later the phone rings again...Its Mom. " I forgot to ask you if you ever got the papers from work about our health insurance changing." We talk for a little while and hang up. I go let the dogs in flop into the chair in front of the computer and the phone rings...AGAIN. I laughed wondering what she'd forgotten to ask or tell me...I almost picked up the phone and said...geez...what now...Instead I said..Hello. Hi, this is so and so from the Webster Police Dept..animal control..Ken has a dog named Jade? I'm thinking what the heck I just let her in and she was tied up...how could she have possibly gotten into trouble. Seems Jade's license needed to be renewed the end of December...He said it was a courtesy call coz he really didn't want to add her to his list of fugitives...LOL. So today Jade...big freaking baby that she is went to the vet and got her rabies shot. She whined and howled and jumped on me ( something she never does..the jumping part) the whole time we were there. Took her home and took off to have lunch with Nicole. We went to Arby's..took her back to work..went to Webster Town Hall and licensed both dogs so they're legal now, then off to Walgreens and got Aimee (the older dog) triple strenth glucosamine and full strength enteric coated aspirin for her arf-eritis. Now my hubby is home and sick in bed...he's getting a cold. I just bought air borne yesterday and it hasn't had a chance to kick in yet..poor hubby. Nothing worse then a sick man...LOL. So I guess that's it for today.

Playing Catch Up

Wow..a week since I've blogged. Friday was take Nick to lunch day. I went to Camille's in Pittsford and picked us up lunch and met her at work and we walked up to the cafe and sat there just talking and eating lunch and talking about the Kidz Club lesson she was putting together. Went and picked up the Grandkids in the afternoon...Ah the sound of little ones in the house. Went to church and afterwards went to get the boys out the nursery and Colin was being tended to as he had a bloody nose. No incident...just started bleeding. Finally got that stopped and he was fine the rest of the evening. When we got home I put a vaporizer in their room and let that go all week end. Saturday it was to cold to go out anywhere so we just played in the house. After Ken got home from work we decided to do individual pizzas so I ran to the store to pick up stuff for toppings. Got home and he started making dough and then asked me where I'd put the pizza sauce I'd just bought...OH OH...out to the store I go again. So Ian's pizza had just cheese...no sauce...crust..and cheese. Colin had sauce and cheese...Kayla had sauce and cheese...I had sauce, cheese, turkey pepperoni, peppers, onions, black olives and mushrooms....Mmmmmm it was awesome. Sunday was pack the kids back packs, go to church, out to lunch and then I took them home. The house always seems so quiet after they leave. Monday was laundry and that's about all I did before everybody got home. Ate supper, looked at Hubby and said," Baby? Wanna go grocery shopping?" I don't really thing he wanted to go but as he had to pick out some stuff for lunches he went. We got a 2 pack of roasting chickens for $.39 a pound..yep that's right 39 cents a pound. Not sure why they were so chead but we got almost 9 pounds of chicken for $3.00 and some change. We win. We've eaten one of them and didn't get sick so I guess they weren't rotten. The other one is in the freezer. Tuesday I baby sat for my hair dresser. She helps out with the food pantry at church and she and another lady had to make a run to food link. 4 of the kids are school age so they can stay at school but she had a toddler and a baby baby....I think she's 5 or 6 weeks old. Those are the 2 I got to watch...oh my word they are so adorable. The baby slept a good deal of the time and the toddler was just to stinking cute. I just sat there and watched her play. When Mommy got home she asked me if I'd be willing to trade baby sitting for getting my hair done. I jumped on that one. I buy my color plus pay her $25 to do it. Now I'll only have to pay for the color. That woman loves to barter. Once I bought a case of burger at Sam's club and traded 2 packages for 2 times getting my hair done. Yesterday was a pretty nasty day...(sorry Auntie) but it didn't stop me from going out in it. I had run out of books to read while I was walking on the treadmill so I'd started watching movies ( small TV with a DVD player on it in the basement) Well yesterday I watched Little Women and decided I wanted to read some of Lousia May Alcott's books so out I go....get in the van...spin my way out of the driveway and down to Aldi's to pick up garlic bread and spaghetti cheese ...oopsss back up..when my baby sitter got home Tuesday she asked me if we liked cottage cheese...she gave me a 5 lb tub of it..she said there was lots in the food pantry and it needed to be used up...we like cottage cheese but that's alot even for us...so I decided to make homemade lasagna. So after Aldi's I went to the library..grabbed 3 books and then decided to see if the new issue of Mother Earths News was in...it was...so I sat and read it. Mommy called and wanted to know what I was doing out in the nasty weather. I told her I was at the library. And that I had to go out later anyways coz Wednesday's I pick up Nicole from work...she eats supper with us..we go to church and then I take her home. Did all that and as an added bonus she did dishes for me. Thank you Nickle..I love you.
So I think my treadmill is getting to die...its making funny noises...the walking belt is starting to come apart and yesterday I almost killed it myself. My control panel shows:

Calories/FatCalories Time
Speed Distance Walked

well, when it gets to 100 minutes the walking belt shuts off but all the info except for speed is still there...put the speed back where you want it and continue on..when the hundred minutes were up I was watching the movie and not really paying attention to what was on it...Belt shuts off...I look down and all I see is...

********* **********
E03 ***********

ARGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! 100 minutes of walking and I had no idea how many calories/fatcalories, or distance I'd walked. I'm standing in the basement on the treadmill..movie playing...yelling NO!!!!! NO!!!!!!!!!!! NOT FAIR!!!!!!!!! LOL...usually I only walk 90 minutes but I wanted to watch the whole movie and it was only an extra 30 minutes so I'd revamped my walk a little..I walked 60 more minutes and just added all that info to what I would have burned had I walked my normal 90 minute work out...I know I was way under but at least I have some idea. Since I was to the doctors in October I've been writing down all the info so I know how many calories I've been burning...right now I'm up to a minimum of 500 calories and about 164 fat calories a day...except Sunday's and the occasional Saturday.

Ok...I guess I should go do something...even if its wrong...later

Updates

Got to talk to Mrs. Wing last night. She went to the doctor Monday. He said its broken...well imagine that. Put a cast on it...the poor thing. She has to go next Friday and have another x-ray done to make sure its still in place and healing. She told me she was glad I was there...I told her I was glad too.

Tonight was the showing for the guy we knew. We went out to supper first for our anniversary ( 9 years ) and figured we'd just run in and back out. Yeah right...first clue was when the cop stopped us and told us if we didn't find a parking spot in the lot to park next door and they were running a shuttle. Next clue was the line of people outside the door waiting to get into the funeral home. Line came in the door...down a hall...into a room...walk through 2 rooms and finally get to the room where the family is receiving well wishers. Took us an hour from the time we stepped in line until we actually talked to his wife. Saw a lot of old friends. It was so sad..looking at him and remembering his love of life, and the way he was always joking around with people, and that deep bass singing voice of his. Rest in Peace Ralph.

Other then that I didn't do much today. Did my walking and spent the rest of the day on the computer.

Catching Up

Well after my bad Friday lets see if I can remember what happened:

Saturday January 17th- Not much happened. Ken and Jen went on visitation with the church and I stayed home and waited for my friend to call...the one who fell. She did break her wrist. There was good news and bad news..the good news was most of the bones she broke were little bones. The bad news one the big one she fractured runs along the blood vessel to the thumb and if she didn't get it looked at by an orthopedic surgeon it could shut off blood to the thumb and that would be very bad. Haven't heard anymore on that. Saturday afternoon we went to Walmart. Well 2 Walmarts actually. The one in Webster/Penfield and the one in Irondequoit. We were looking for a WII Fit. Lots of luck on that one..They sell out as soon as they get them in. May have to order it on line. Then we went to Wegmans to the RedBox to get a movie or two. Note to self: Saturday late afternoon/early evening is NOT the time to try and get a movie. I think they ended up getting Wall-E and Journey to the Center of the Earth. I didn't watch either one.
Sunday January 18- Sunday was pretty uneventful except for Jen and I going to pick Nicole up in the afternoon. We hung out at her place for a little while then came home and went to church.

Monday January 19- Ken and Jen started putting together 2 bookcases while I walked on the treadmill and did the laundry. Then Ken decided we should give blood. I spent about half an hour online trying to figure if Jen was old enough. She was as long as Ken signed a parental consent form. Off to Henrietta we go because Ken wanted to give double reds. We don't get a mile down the road...nuts..we need Jen's social security card...back home...they wait in the car while I try to remember where I put it...GOT IT!!...back in the car and off we go again...nuts... Jen just had her ears pierced on the 3 rd...do I remember reading you had to wait a year after a piercing? We get there and you only have to wait a year if the piercing was done with an unsterilized needle. We got them done at Claire's so she's good to go. Ken goes in first..a couple minutes later they call me. Go through all the rigamorol of getting registered and out to get my blood drawn. The girl I had was good on the finger pricking part ( I HATE HAVING MY FINGER PRICKED ) not so good on the arm stabbing part. So I'm sittng there giving blood and I say...hmmm I wonder where my daughter is...and the girl taking my blood says, Yeah and your husband. Oh I forgot about him but I just figure he's around the corner where I can't see him. Just before I'm done he walks out of a room...bandages on two fingers but his arm not wrapped in the clingy stuff they wrap your arm in when you're done. He looks at me and mouth's where's jen? I shrug ...I still haven't seen her. He walks out to the waiting room to see if she's there. Now I'm done...wrapped and sitting in the place where they give you sugar laden snacks and juice or water to drink. He walks in...she's not out there...weird....did she freak out and leave? NO her coat is still out there and its to cold to go out without it. We walk out to the waiting room..No Jen. So what's up with you not giving blood? His iron was to low to give double reds and they can't send him over to do whole blood for who knows what reason. He has to wait 24 hours. So I start checking registration rooms. The doors are glass with a non transparent film in the middle so all you can see are feet so you know if somebodies using the room. 4 rooms...empty...empty...feet...empty. The feet don't look familiar...then I recognize her purse. Ok..there she is. Apparently by the time she was ready somebody else had come in and they took them first...actually if my calculations are correct 3 other people went in before her. So now they bring her out and she's right next to the door where they feed you. I'm standing there talking to her and the tech tells me to go ahead and come in and gives me a stool to sit on on the other side of her. She was scared as all get out but I sat there and talked to her and kidded with her and held her hand and when he put the needle in she didn't even squeeze my hand. So we are now a family that gives blood..Nicole's turn..LOL. We didn't do much else except stop and get food for supper. Stuff to make my new favorite meal...Broccoli Salad and a Rotiserie Chicken from Wegmans. OH and a box of Kasha..buckwheat groats. That was supper.

Tuesday January 20- Jen had to go back to school but Ken had taken an extra day off. We originally were going to go away for the week end but then realized we couldn't afford it. So Ken spent an hour finishing up the smaller of the 2 book cases and then wanted to know if I wanted to go with him to get new shoe laces for his boots and we'd use the Olive Garden gift card for a door prise at a wedding reception we went to...and oh yeah..did I know where the Red Cross Office was in Greece...well yes as a matter of fact I do. So off we go to the Red Cross Office...he was going to do whole blood....an hour passes...this is getting ridiculous. What is it with these people disappering in the Red Cross places???? I'm sitting there watching you know who get you know whatted on TV ( It probably wouldn't have gone over real well if I'd asked to change the channel..and there probably wasn't anything else on anyways with history being made and all...GAG)...and a lady sticks her head around the corner and says," Are you Diane?" uhhh yeah....she motions for me to follow her...OH GREAT!!!!!!!!! NOW WHAT????? LOL...well seems Ken's iron level was a lot higher and their double red appointment had canceled so he took it. So that's what was taking him so long....Actually my first thought was oh my gosh he's fainted. He has an aversion to needles which is why he likes to do double reds because they can only do that every 112 days and he doesn't have to go as often. So they finally finished him up and we went to the Red Wing shoe store and got FREE laces for his boots..then went to the Olive Garden and we both got the all you can eat soup, salad and bread stick special. I had pasta e fagoli...oh man...that was so good...I had 2 bowls...2 bread sticks and 2 plates of tossed salad..hubbs had the same but he had some tuscano soup...it cost him $8.00 including the tip. Came home and he took a nap..poor baby. He and Jen both had to have fillings yesterday. Yuck. Ate supper...let him whoop me in WII boxing and a game of WII golf and watch Biggest Loser..I love that show.

Wednesday January 21- Today was my day...went to the doctors..I've lost 8 pounds...YIPPEEEE!!!!!!!! Blood pressure 118/80. Sugar down, cholesterol down...doc is happy with me...heck...I'm happy with me.. He's keeping me on the medicine but that's ok for now. I still need to lose some weight. I'm reading a book he recommended..Eating to Live. Pretty much its a push for being a vegetarian but its interesting and I'm seriously considering making some dietary changes.. Maybe not complete vegetarian but closer. Then it was off to the dentist for my quarterly cleaning..That didn't go so well...Dentist wants to pull couple of teeth. I told him I'd think about it and let him know in 3 months. Not only do I have to pay for the extractions but the work to my partial. I'm just not feeling that generous with my momey right now. I told him I had his number programmed into speed dial on my cell phone. The hygenist laughed. Came home and did my 90 minute tread mill work out. I didn't eat breakfast coz I was going from the doctor to the dentist and wouldn't have time to brush my teeth so the first meal I had was lunch...a tossed salad and a sandwich. I picked up some Focaccia bread....sliced off my quarter and added 4 slices of honeysmoked turkey..OH man that was so good. Now I'm just sitting her catching up on my e-mail and my blog. I guess that's it for today....;-)

Saturday January 17th

Yesterday ended up being a very weird emotionally messing day. I was in the kitchen cooking supper when my hubby called, (Me) " Hey Babe". (Him) "Hey, I'm on my way home." Clue number one that things were going downhill fast, he doesn't call me to tell me he's on his way home. A text maybe but seldom if ever a phone call. (Him)" Hey you remember Ralph **** ?" Who could forget Ralph? We met him through the Reformer's Unanimous program, a Christ centered addictions program, at our church. Ralph was a big guy...always singing...and funny as all get out. Ralph was a crack addict with a wife and 3 boys. He went away for a few months to a home in Illinois to get his life straightened out. He came back and was very involved in the program trying to get his family back together..to get his life straightened out. Ralph left our RU program and went to another closer to his home where he could be better used of God and was doing great last we heard. (Me, starting to feel a little uneasy) "Yeah I remember him." (Him, a little quieter) " They found him dead in a crack house." That's when my world slammed shut. Not Ralph!!! He was doing so good. I just stood there..frozen...in shock. Poor Robin and the boys. I couldn't think anything other then," Ralph..Ralph is gone. Its still very hard to fathom. Never having had an addiction problem I can't begin to imagine what he went through. How he must has battled and struggled to stay clean for the months he was clean only to have the dark depths of addiction grab him again..knowing he was risking losing everything, his wife, his boys, his job, his self respect, his life but having the pull of addiction so strong that he was willing to risk it all. I am still in shock.
The night didn't stop there. During supper the phone rang. It was an elderly lady from church who lives within a mile of our house who also attends the RU program. Not because of addictions but because the program is also a discipleship program designed to draw the disciple closer to Jesus. I'd told her once that I would happily pick her up if she needed a ride. She needed a ride. Ok I'll be there about 6:30. I wasn't really sure exactly where she lived but as I rounded the corner of the building I thought she lived in I saw her in the window getting her coat one. Oh good I thought...I found her. I turned the van around and got the passenger side door right in front of the side walk she'd walk down...wait...wait...lights still on..ok maybe she didn't know it was me...call..luckily I'd programmed her number in my cell before leaving home...4 rings and the answering machine picks up...hmmmmm. Ok..maybe she had to go to the bathroom before she came
out ..wait....wait...strange...get out of the van walk to the building...yep..right number. Walk through the first door...mailboxes on the left..yep there's her name. Pull on the inside door...locked. Ring her doorbell..Nothing. Then I hear what sounds like somebody yelling. Jerk on the door a couple more times which made a little bit of noise. Now I definately hear somebody yelling help. I start ringing the other 2 door buzzer buttons. Finally the guy from upstairs comes down and peeks around the corner...I motion for him to come to the door..Ok..here's the only funny part of this. He comes down in shorts and flip flops...that's it...nothing else. He opens the door and I tell him who I'm there for and he say's he thinks she's home and thats when we hear her..calling for him. "I've fallen and I can't get up. I think I've broken my wrist. Tell the lady at the door to go on without me." Yeah fat chance of that happening. He goes up to his apartment to call the maintenance guy to bring a key to open her door. I call one of our Pastor's to call her son who also goes to our church. The maintenance guy comes ..finally.. and opens her door. Herbie and I go in and her Miss Julia sits..on the living room floor..in her coat, boots and rain bonnet. She has a bad knee so she kinda has to camel walk to get up off the floor which she can't do because she thinks her wrist is broken. Herbie on one side me on the other just kinda pick the sweet little half pint up off the floor and get her on her feet. She kept telling me I could go...I kept telling her I was staying till Michael got there. He was there with in minutes and he whisked her off to Urgent Care. She just called a few minutes ago and told me that she'd had x-rays and yes there were some bones broken but one of them is a bone that could shut off blood supply to her thumb and she could end up losing it if that happens. I told her I was here for her if she needed help or a ride or anything. She is the sweetest lady. So that was my Friday night. I'll be very thankful if I don't have another of those anytime in the near future...Oh..I have a new picture of Shaun and Heather...I'll post it at the end. I did my 90 minute tread mill walk this morning..and I'm reading a new book. Eat to Live. It was recommended by my doctor. Its been very interesting so far. Ok..I think I'm blogged out for now... Off to up load the Shaun and Heather pic.....

January 16th, 2009

For some reason when I typed the date it reminded me of Star Trek...ship's log..yada yada yada. Last nights supper was homemade pizza. I already have pizza crusts in the freezer so its a matter of thawing and topping. I've been making one for the 3 of us but last night I made 2. One with tomato sauce, basil, oregano, spaghetti cheese, mozzerella and mushrooms. The other, tomato sauce basil, oregano, spaghetti cheese, mozzerella, mushrooms, black olives, onions and banana peppers. We didn't have any pepperoni and Ken and Jen both said it was fine without it so....yeah me!!!!!!!! I have no idea what I'm making today. Nicole and I did our Friday lunch thing. We went to Pita Pit on the corner of East Ave. and Alexander Street. We tried to go to Camille's on Park Ave but the parking there is horrible. Finally sent out Shaun and Heathers Christmas boxes today. Yes I know I'm incredibly late. I crammed those babies full of junk food for em. LOL. Next time is probably going to be ramen noodles and canned pasta or something. More substantial junk food. Other then that there isn't much going on. Oh..let me tell you about my CVS fiasco. I got the smart idea that I'd start getting my prescriptions online and have them mailed to the house. That way it wouldn't matter if the weather was cold and snowy. So I set up my account....order my first refill...package arrives...checking out my pills...one prescription that had 10 refills on it says 0 refills...ummm huh? I should have had 9 refills left. No way to get ahold of them..so today I go to CVS..the store...seems that when you transfer a prescription and you're in NY state they can only give you one refill and you have to get a new script..well thank you very much for letting me know about that. But my gracious CVS said that as I originally had the prescription filled there they would write me out a new one and I could get the rest of my pills. I will not be getting my prescriptions filled online anymore. There's alot to be said for doing business locally. I didn't want my prescription filled in Indiana anyways. Besides if I can convince myself to walk the little over a mile to the drug store to pick it up ( when the weather gets nicer of course ) it will be good exercise. Maybe I could incorporate it into a walk to the library...then I could rest before heading back home. So off I go to figure out what to make for supper.

Thursday January 15th

Yesterday I went to my Momma's. I was just past the Geneseo exit doing 70 miles an hour when I realized the road was slightly icy... did I just feel the van slip a little??? So I slowed down to 55 and continued on my way. Got to Mom's and she said she had some jobs for me. The first was to move all her Christmas stuff to shelves so that when the furnace guys came today they'd have room to work. They're getting a new furnace because the old one has a cracked heat exchanger and they can smell fumes. Got that job done and then it was out to burn papers. Simple little job, load garbage bags into to golf cart...drive to burn pile....unload garbage bags, strike the match and let her burn. Or it should have been..almost to the burn pile the golf cart didn't want to go anymore. There's a certain sound it makes when its having electrical problems and it was making that sound. Oh great...we pushed that thing 3/4 of the way back to the house with very little help from the golf cart and then decided to walk up and get the truck to come tow it the rest of the way. I got an extra work out yesterday. My heart was beating so hard I could hear it in my ears. That was from the pushing coz once we started walking my system slowed down and I actually felt ready to conquer the world by the time we got back to the house. Got the golf cart back to the house and plugged in and mom decided to show me how to plow the driveway. Not as much fun as I always envisioned it being.Mom roasted a chicken and we had a chicken sandwich for lunch..man was that good. Moist and juicy. Then it was off to Nunda to get cat food and milk. By the time we got back it was time for me to take off and head back to the city to pick up my Nicole so she could come to supper and then go to church with us. I had a pork roast, potatoes and baby carrots in the crockpot for supper. It was ready by the time we got home so it was just dish it up, sit down and eat.

Today has been a very interesting day so far. First off I apparently exerted myself to much yesterday coz I slept in till after 6:00 AM. Got up, made Ken's coffe, lunch and breakfast, went downstairs and walked my 90 minutes, came up and took a bath while doing my Bible devotions and talking to mom on the phone. Today is the day I had to get my blood work done for my doctor's appointment next week. Figured I'd do all my running around as long as I was out coz it was snowing. First stop HSBC to cash some checks..pull up to the drive up thingy...you know...that tube thing you put your stuff in and send it to the teller...get my banking all done...remove money from tube..put the van in gear and just sit there spinning..ummm...ok...now what do I do? Just keep spinning until you get to pavement and the van moves..next to get out of the bank there's a kinda steep hill..Ok I can do this..just don't stop till you get to the top. Luckily there were no cars waiting at the top to pull out into traffic so I was just on enough level so I could get out. Slowly drive to the vampire lab. Walk in and there are 3 girls working and only me. That's why I go later in the morning...no waiting. Leave the vamp lab and head for Aldi's...starts snowing harder AGAIN. Go into Aldi's and grab the 2 things I have to pick up..walk up to the cash register...there in their cheapo bin is a box of Bran Flakes for .75 and 2 boxes of their Shreadded Mini Wheats for .90 each. All because the top of the box is crinkled...SCORE!!!!!!!!! Ken eats the Bran Flakes in a cereal mixture he makes and I eat Shredded Mini Wheats!! Yes!! Plus I bought a box of Multi Grain Cheerios when I was with Mom yesterday for like $ 2.00 or some ridiculous amount. I'm good for a couple of weeks on cereal I think. Stopped at ESL to make a deposit for Ken and almost slid into a car because the van didn't want to turn a corner...I wasn't going fast either coz I knew how slippery it was. By now I was saying to myself, " I just want to go home and not go out anymore." Got home safe and sound. Everybody drive careful coz I'd be tempted to leave you in the ditch rather then go out in that again.

Broccoli Salad and other stuff

Ok..the broccoli salad was freaking awesome!!!!!!!!!! That's a definite keeper. We ended up having Baked Chicken with some Garlic Herb seasoning, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, broccoli salad and marinated mushrooms...Yummity yum yum yum. So this morning I'm thinking how to top that...I'm not. Today is gonna be marinated steaks..i wanted it to be teriyaki but unfortunately I don't have teriyaki marinade so its Herb and Garlic...ummmm I'm seeing a them here. I haven't decided what else yet...I'm lucky I got that far. Hubby just texted me and said the doctor called him. His cholestrol isn't to bad. Doc isn't ready to put him on meds yet...just told him to keep eating healthier and lose some weight. YIPEE!!!!!!!!! Heard there was a weather advisory in effect but haven't seen anything here in Webster yet where life is worth living. Weather map shows it all around us but not here yet. What's today? Tuesdsay.....come on snow...but you have to be done by tomorrow morning. Love you Auntie Edna. Ken finally got the end of the driveway cleaned out from the snow we had Saturday night. Ok..its off to play I go..

Monday

Everytime I replay that video of the boys doing the home alone thing I laugh right out loud ( which for some reason freaks the dogs out ) and fall in love all over again. Darn I love my grandbabies!!!! We actually had a down Saturday...Ken and I slept in until 8:45 AM!!!!!!!!! I mean..that's really sleeping in for us. Ken had to go get blood work done and he didn't do that until around 10:30. Then we went grocery shopping..Had lots of coupons in last Sunday's paper for healthy stuff so we bought a lot of that to try to give him healthier alternatives for lunch..usually its sandwich, chips, fruit snacks and fruit cocktail..Today it was a Healthy Choice Cafe Steamer, lite yogurt, 100 calorie snack pack fruit cocktail and veggie chips..A little more then I usually pack him but healthier alternatives then hitting the vending machine at work. I love my hubby...I'd like to keep him around for a while. Yesterday a lady at church brought me a sample of her Broccoli Salad..oh man!!!!!!! I fell in love. So today I did an internet search and tried to find something similiar and made an expensive trip to Wegman's. I bought broccoli, a red onion, and sliced almonds for the salad..I also bought grape tomatoes for tossed salads, mushrooms..just because I'm feeling the need for some and seedless grapes. Oh wait...back up....got up at 5:15..did my devotions....put together Ken's lunch, made him breakfast, sorted the laundry, kicked everybody outta the house, took the laundry downstairs and started it and walked for 100 minutes. That's long enough to wash AND dry the first load. Plus when I walk I read most of it...except for the 10 minutes at 4.0 miles per hour at 10% incline..then I'm holding on for dear life, huffing and puffing and walking fast. Ok...now...when I got home from the store I cut up and blanched my broccoli..you can leave it raw but I wanted to try it blanced, diced up my red onion, fried my bacon, mixed everything up and threw in my almonds and a handful of Mexican blend cheese. The dressing was 1 cup of Miracle Whip, 1/4 cup of splenda, 2 tablespoons of cider vinegar. It is so good!!!!!! I wanna call Ken and tell him to get home some we can have supper...NOW!! I will not go to the fridge to sample..I will not go to the fridge to sample...LOL.
Just got off the phone with my Mommy. I was going to go visit her Thursday but they're having a new furnace put in and apparently Thursday is the day they're going to do it...I don't like being cold and its supposed to be the coldest day of the week so I'm going down Wednesday instead. I haven't been down there since the Monday before Christmas I think. I've got to return her Christmas tree, slippers, apron, and cheesecake pan. The last 3 she left here the Saturday after Christmas.
Supper...supper tonight is going to be baked boneless skinless chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy or stove top stuffing or some kind of rice in my rice cooker, green beans ( home canned ) and hmmm...something else...now what was it?? Hmmm...what was that? Oh yeah!!! Broccoli Salad. Well its off to see if I can find the 2 GB memory stick I bought when the Staples in Penfield opened coz I emptied out my camera from Christmas without showing Mom the pictures. I bought her one of those digital picture frames for Christmas so I need to see which pics she wants on it. She kept saying everytime I'd bring her a new picture that she was running out of room to put them so I took care of that. Off I go to see if I can figure out how to put pics on the memory stick...

Video of the boys doing the home alone thing

These 2 are a riot.

Catch up time again

After my last post I had the kiddos for another 2 days..It was great having them here. I did forget how active 3 kids could be but that's ok...I'm fully recovered. New Years Eve was spent at church watching a movie and playing bible trivia. We've really gotten a lot of use out of the WII we got for Christmas. There hasn't been many if any days it hasn't been played. Last Saturday Nicole through a surprise 16th birthday party for Jen. It was really a surpirse too!! The look on her face when she walked through the doors and everybody jumped out and yelled surprise was priceless. Her and Ken had gone out to lunch..to get her out of the house...James dropped Nicole off and the girls moms dropped them off. My car was the only one in the drive way and she had no idea there were 5 other people waiting in the house to make her pre birthday memorable. Monday Ken went to the doctors coz he'd had a sore ear since Thursday...Yep, ear infection. I also used that opportunity to step on the scale in the doctors office. I've lost 8 pounds so far..yeah me!!!!!! I have to go to the doctors the 21st. I know I haven't lost enough to go off the meds yet but I'm to one day. Jen has all these fabulous long jean skirts and Monday as I folded each one I said...." I'm going to fit into you one day." Yep I'm insane. Its snowing today. My Mom keeps calling me to see if I'm getting the snow they are. Nope. Just snow flurries. So I guess now I'm caught up...not that I'll stay that way...off to upload some pics.
